Born in the rocknroll capital of the
UK, Corby, Northants, Dean fell in love with music at an early age. At the ripe old age of
6, whilst at a family wedding, Dean tripped over the bands drum kit and decided that he
liked the sound. To this day, he is still trying to recreate that rhythm!
After stints playing the recorder, and the triangle, Dean once again tried the drums,
after receiving a pair of drum sticks and some bongos from his granddad, who was a
professional drummer most of his life. Much to the annoyance of his family, and especially
to the neighbours, Dean got hold of his first drum kit!
His introduction to the
world of rocknroll came after joining his first band, Chase the
Dragon, at the age of 15. The rest of the band, all hairy-arsed builders aged 30-35,
introduced Dean to the world of rock, and
ALCOHOL!!!!
After some success with Chase the Dragon and other local bands, (with friends
more his own age!), Dean decided to get out of the UK and go see the world.
After arriving in Israel, it wasnt long till the beaches and crystal clear waters of
the Red Sea had pulled him to the resort town of Eliat and then to the South Sinai. This
is when Dean fell in love with the sea, and became a scuba diver.
Over the next 13 years, Dean travelled all over the world working as a diving instructor,
dive centre manager, bar manager, professional drinker and partier, visiting and living in
places like, Israel, Egypt, Thailand and South East Asia, Australia, South Africa,
Mozambique, America, to name but a few. During all that time, Dean forgot he could play
the drums, as the opportunity never came to play.
It wasnt until mid 2006, after his little drum secret came out, that the
beast of the beat reared its head again. After some not-so gentle persuasion, Dean
reluctantly picked up some sticks again and became one of the founder members of On
The Rocks.
Now very happy that he had his arm twisted by the others, Dean plays whatever kit is put
in front of him with the same vigour as a
that is unless he has a
beer bottle in his hand, or sometimes with the beer bottle in his hand! Or sometimes with
the beer bottle itself
